The circuit of the Cordillera Huayhuash lasts 8 days, almost always moves at altitudes over 4000m and overcomes at 170 km distance 7 passes between 4300 and 5000m. Surefootedness, a head for heights, a good physical condition, team spirit and willingness to leave your comfort zone.
The Cordillera Huayhuash is a compact mountain range 30 kilometers in length, with six peaks over 6000 meters and dozens higher than 5000 meters. It is home to condors and at least 85 other bird species, viscachas (similar to a chinchilla), the emblematic vicuña, and 12 more species of mammals.

Travel Program
Day 1: Huaraz City at (3100m) - Via Villague Chiquian (3400 m) - Villague Llamac (3600) - Villague Pocpa (3600 m), Our first Camp Cuartelhuain (4180 m)
Leaving Huaraz at 9 am, arrive at the first campsite at 3 pm after a lunch stop in Chiquian. There is no hiking on the first day. After arriving, relax and enjoy the view of Rondoy mountain and the valley, where there are often spectacular sunsets.

Day 2: Camp Cuartehuain (4180 m) - Trekking up to Pass Cacanan Punta (4700 m) - another uphill hike for the second pass at (4650 m) - Our second Camp Carhuacocha (4230 m)
There is an early morning wake-up to start hiking up 2.5 hours to reach the first pass at 4,700m. Then hike downhill approximately 400m before another uphill hike for the second pass at 4,650m. Arrive at the campsite

Day 3: Camp Carhuacocha (4140 m) - Trekking up to Pass Siula (4830 m), Our third Camp Huayhuash (4350 m)
There is another early morning wake-up to start hiking uphill to the pass at 4,810m. Today will be the famous 3 Lagunas viewpoint. Approximately 8 hours hiking. Campsite Huayhuash is at a 4,350m altitude.

Day 4: Camp Huayhuash (4350 m) - Trekking up to Pass Trapecio (5035 m), our next Camp Elefane (4360 m)
Wake up early for the Trapasio pass at 5,041m, with an optional 40 extra minutes of hiking to reach the glacier.
Then descend while passing 5 beautiful lakes to reach the campsite Cuyoc at 4,400m. Approximately 6-7 hours of hiking
to reach the campsite. It is also optional to hike 2 hours from the campsite to San Antonio pass at 5,100m.

Day 5: Camp Elefante (4360 m) - Trekking up to Pass San Antonio (5020 m) - Hike Down via Valley Cutatambo to Village Huayllapa (3360 m)
Today will be one of the most beautiful viewpoints of the Huayhuash trek, the Santa Rosa pass. Here Suila Grande can be seen, the mountain made famous by the book and movie Touching the Void. 19km of walking which takes approximately 9 hours with breaks and lunch. The campsite is in the village of Huayllapa at 3,487m.

Day 6: Camp Elefante (4360 m) - Trekking up to Pass San Antonio (5020 m) - Hike Down via Valley Cutatambo to Village Huayllapa (3360 m)
The day will start early to walk 4-5 hours up to Tapush Pass at 4,800m. There will be a lunch stop on or before the pass before continuing to the campsite at 4,400m. 13 km and 7 hours of walking.

Day 7: Cashpapampa (4500 m) - Trekking up to Pass Yaucha (4830 m) - Hike Down Camp Jahuacocha (4050 m)
Reach Yaucha Pass at 4,800m 1.5 hours after leaving the campsite. Then there will be a 1-hour side trip to see a mirador of 2 lakes. Then descend to the campsite at 4,000m.

Day 8: Camp Jahuacocha (4050 m) - Trekking up Pass Jahuapunta (4650 m) - Hike Down Village of Pocpa (3600 m); Transfer Private transport to Huaraz (3100 m)
Last day of this trek. Climb the last pass – Jahua Punta – and a long descent to the camp in the village of Pocpa. In this village we finish our great adventure filled with so many experiences. Here we leave our team of mule drivers and burros. Our private transport is waiting to return to the capital of Andes mountaineering, Huaraz.

What to Bring or take fo Day Hiking and Technical Equipment for Climbing Expedition
This equipment list is compiled to provide you with adequate help when choosing your equipment for a climb. Most items are required. Please consider each of them and make sure you understand the function and exclusive use for mountaineering, before substituting or removing items from this list. Please note that this list has been carefully annotated by the organizer. Remember that mountaineering, mountaineering or mountaineering is an extreme, risky sport, therefore everything related to it is of great attention.

Hiking backpack for hiking 30 to 40 liters

1 ATC descender (Rappel), this is very necessary for technical mountains

First aid kit, for high mountains, because we as guides cannot medicate clients
Backpack Capacity 60 liters, it is better to have a bigger backpack to go comfortably to the high camps, because here you have to carry all your personal things
Gaiters or Leggings, now modern boots already have built-in (Incorporated), but better to have an extra pair
Dressing appropriately for the mountains can make the difference between a pleasant trip and a really uncomfortable one. Clothing must provide the right degree of temperature, perspiration and be well ventilated. Preferably cotton clothing should be avoided, as in humid conditions they absorb body heat.
In general, the weather conditions in in the Andes of South America can vary from day to day and even throughout the day. Therefore, clothing must be versatile.
