The Cordillera Blanca continues to be a meeting point for elite mountaineers from around the world. Recently, Huaraz welcomed a group of Russian climbers with a dual mission: to conquer some of the most aesthetic peaks in the world and to support the local rescue community.

The Objective: Yanapaccha and Artesonraju

The Russian expedition arrived in Huaraz with their sights set on two icons of the Ancash region:

  • Yanapaccha (Diana Pakcha): A technical glacier perfect for high-altitude acclimatization.

  • Artesonraju: Famous for being the inspiration behind the Paramount Pictures logo, this peak is a dream for any vertical wall specialist.

As they began their acclimatization process, preparing to face the sheer ice walls and crevasses of these giants, they also took part in a significant act of international cooperation.

A Powerful Alliance: Red Fox & Socorro Andino Peruano

Through the strategic management of Eric Albino, President of the Andean Peruvian Relief Association (S.A.P.), and a partnership with the world-renowned brand Red Fox 🦊, a vital donation of high-performance technical mountain gear was delivered to our rescue team.

“The mission of this equipment is clear,” explained Eric Albino. “It is designed to protect our team from extreme cold, boost the morale of our volunteers, and ensure we can operate with the highest professional standards in any high-altitude emergency.”

The Reality of Rescue: Voices from the Frontline

The delivery of this gear is more than a gesture; it is a necessity. Wilder Alba Chinchay, one of the heroic rescuers who recently participated in the successful mission to save two Japanese climbers on Huascarán, shared the harsh reality of their work:

“We reached them at 6,550 meters. To get there, we had to navigate collapsing snow bridges, climb vertical mixed walls, and rappel through labyrinthine crevasses. Huascarán is a giant that demands everything from you. It’s never easy.”

Wilder’s testimony highlights that courage alone isn’t enough; rescuers need teamwork, preparation, and the right gear to survive and save others.

Borders Fade, Solidarity Remains

Thanks to this international alliance, our rescuers are now better equipped and more motivated than ever. In the mountains, geographic borders disappear, replaced by a universal language of solidarity, respect for nature, and the unwavering will to protect human life.

🏔️ Support the Mission. Climb Safely.
