Adventures in the Peruvian Andes. Climbing Mount Brave – Chachani (6057m). Journey through the Rainbow Mountains
From July 24 to August 2, 2024 with guide Olga Rumyantseva.
On this journey, you will discover the secrets of the Inca Empire, walk through the streets of the empire’s capital – Cusco, find yourself in the Sacred Valley, where the ancient civilization arose, and of course, you will be able to see the mysterious lost city of Machu Picchu!
The route takes us to the Vinicunca Valley, where we visit the Rainbow Mountains, an amazingly beautiful place that National Geographic included in the “100 places to visit in your lifetime.” From the peaks of the Rainbow Mountains you will see the majestic Mount Ausangate (6362m) – the fifth highest among the Peruvian mountains. We will continue to gradually gain altitude and climb Maria Peak (5500m), upon descent from which champagne and hot springs will be waiting for you.
On the same day we will return to Cusco for rest, and the next day we will go to the fabulously beautiful cultural capital of Peru – the “White City” of Arequipa. Arequipa is located near three volcanoes: El Misti (5822m), Chachani (6057m) and Pichu Pichu (5664m). From here we head to the Valley of the Volcanoes, to lands completely covered with hardened lava. There are over 100 dormant volcanoes here. After this, the Colca Canyon will await us – the second deepest in the world (3400m), it is almost twice as deep as the famous Grand Canyon in the USA.
And the final goal of the program will be the ascent to the Chachani volcano (6057m) – “Mount of the Brave,” sacred to the Incas, and a place of power for many travelers from all over the world.

The colors of the local mountains alternate and are an amazing combination of brown, purple, turquoise, yellow and red rock layers. The mountains literally shimmer with all the colors of the rainbow. That’s why they are called the Rainbow Mountains
Among the most interesting climbs is the ascent to the Chachani volcano. Chachani consists of several lava domes and individual volcanoes, making it truly one of the most spectacular volcanoes in the world.
Volcano Chachani – or Mount of the Brave (translated from the Aymara language) – was a sacred mountain for the Incas, and at its peak there was also a sanctuary, which is a place of power for many travelers.
